The model of instrument and the format in which the data is saved will affect what is needed to display the traces on a PC.
Traces saved to the floppy disk using a DataSYS 700, DataSYS 800 or DataSYS 900 series can only be saved as a ".dat" file. In order to view the data use either Transition 2, the Gould software specifically designed for transferring acquisitions to a PC and displaying them on the screen, or ProView - a powerful and extensive analysis and report writing software package which can read Gould ".dat" files.
Instruments in the Classic range with firmware version 1.14 or higher can save the traces in Windows Metafile or TIFF format. These are graphic file formats and can be viewed on a PC with suitable standard graphics packages. It is worth noting that Windows Metafile and TIFF files cannot be recalled to the oscilloscope.
