The new Gould DataSYS 840 is a high-resolution 4-channel digital storage oscilloscope which is ideally suited to examining fine signal details in areas such as materials testing, biomedical research and power-supply monitoring.
Use of a newly developed multi-level acquisition technique to obtain a linear 12-bit vertical resolution with low noise means that fine signal detail is maintained while providing a wide dynamic input range. The signal detail can be observed live using the instrument's horizontal and vertical zoom and shift controls.
The DataSYS 840 incorporates an antialiasing input filter coupled to the timebase to remove unwanted signals, while the acquisition system has been designed to ensure high precision to preserve data integrity.
In the 12-bit high-resolution mode, the instrument has a sampling rate of 10 MS/s (megasamples per second) and a memory length of 5 k word per channel.
DataSYS 840 can also be used as an 8-bit, 100 MS/s instrument with a 50,000-point memory for high-speed electronic timing applications.
Like the rest of the DataSYS family, the DataSYS 840 is a multi-dimensional measurement system with a flexible feature set which can be configured to meet the exact requirements of the user. In addition to a full-color display and powerful automation and computational facilities, it offers a number of user choices in terms of disk storage, built-in hard-copy output and interfacing with external equipment.
